Proud to share the film we made for Shine, the daily self-care app created by BIPOC for anyone that doesn't see themselves in what has become the white-washed wellness space.
Created by a Black woman and a half-Japanese woman, Shine features meditations voiced by mostly Black womxn and topics specifically geared towards issues BIPOC deal with on a daily basis, the app is designed to be a daily ritual that allows you to create emotional space for yourself.
Guided by their principles, we made “The Reckoning”--their first-ever national commercial. The film features incredible casting diversity and delivery by not just the app creators but real people, in a meditative state that is authentic to each of them. Check out what Creativity had to say about the work.
The project was completed thanks to the generous donations of production partners, including our director, Christian Padron and our DP, Ryan Marie Helfant (DP to Beyonce’s Black Is King).
